About Us
What's This All About?
So, Geriatric Translations is fan-translation project. It emerged because I was tired of reading Google/DeepL translated raws which were absolutely destroying my brain and comprehension. This is my pet project through which I aim to provide high-quality readable machine translations using, as is the hype, glorious LLMs!
There's a lot of nifty stuff under the hood - entity consistency frameworks and other refinements in the translation architecture, with constant updates to make the translations as nice as possible.
Community & Features
I've added a whole bunch of user features to make the website as comfy as possible for the readers. Want to suggest new features? Just drop a message in the Discord - we're slowly becoming a nice active community!
The Elephant in the Room - The Paywall
Let's address the major hole in the wall - I need money. For API costs (the major expense), to run the server and website, and finally... I'm human! I do this in my free time, so some pocket money helps my motivation to keep this going and improving.
Since I don't run ads, the website is based on a Patreon model where becoming a member gives you access to the whole site - read as much as you like!
I understand this will disappoint some or get some hate, but it needs to be done to keep it going. I don't want to start begging for donations with pop-ups or just shut this project down due to lack of funding and costs.
